Kurzbeschreibung des Projekts

A sustainable societal approach to water requires not only innovative technological solutions but also broadly established water literacy, i.e., the ability to understand basic scientific-technical and social correlations of the provision, use or treatment of water. Water literacy also encompasses the ability to gauge what consequences ones own actions have on water resources, and the development of a sense of responsibility in regard to water.

As an innovation supporting framework and the cluster’s central outreach project, the “Public Water Science” (“PWS”) project contributes to the formation of such water literacy. It operates at the intersection between sub-projects, the public at large, and the industry, and will transfer the cluster’s research results into society, as well as initiate connections between the cluster and external actors.

To this end, flexible exhibition and event formats are being organised in cooperation with local partners. These will offer information for companies and citizens and as starting point for new project partnerships. Together with regional and federal STEM educators, “PWS” is further developing easy-access educational offers around the topic of water for different target audiences, and contributes to the establishment of the cluster in the regional innovation landscape
